Raisin Bran Muffins

Preheat the oven to 400-425°
|

1/2 cup raisins
|
Soak the raisins in hot water while you prepare the muffin mix.
|
1/4 cup shortening
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup molasses
2 eggs
|
Cream shortening, then add sugar, a little at a time.
Add molasses and eggs. Beat together well.

1 cup milk
1-1/2 cups bran
|
Stir in the milk and bran.
|
1 cup flour
1-1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
3/4 tsp salt
|
Sift dry ingredients together.
Stir gently into wet mixture, just until dampened.
Drain the raisins and add them to the mixture.
Spoon into greased muffin tins.
Bake in hot oven for 15-20 minutes.
